Why We Charge APCs

Open-access publishing removes paywalls and ensures universal access to scientific knowledge. Unlike subscription-based systems, the costs of publication in open-access journals are not recovered through readers or institutions; instead, authors (or their institutions/funders) pay the APC.

  • 30% - Peer Review & Editorial Management: Managing editors, reviewer honorariums, plagiarism checks, initial screening, desk review, and full peer review workflow
  • 25% - Copyediting & Quality Control: Professional copyediting, proofreading, formatting, typesetting, reference standardization, and layout design
  • 20% - Technology & Infrastructure: Editorial management systems, website hosting, digital preservation, DOI registration, and technical maintenance
  • 15% - Indexing & Distribution: Submission to major databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science), CrossRef registration, and metadata distribution
  • 10% - Administrative & Support: Customer support, author services, compliance monitoring, and business operations

Authors from low-income countries (as classified by the World Bank) are eligible for complete APC waivers. Countries currently eligible include:

Student & Early Career Discounts

We offer special rates for:

  • Graduate Students: 30% discount with valid student ID
  • Postdoctoral Researchers: 20% discount within 3 years of PhD completion
  • Early Career Researchers: 15% discount for first-time authors

Payment Policies

When Payment is Due

APCs are only charged after manuscript acceptance following peer review. No payment is required during submission or review.
